Drone images shared by Twitter user Rory Hay showed the size of the march as it progressed along the Pride Parkway to Pride Park Stadium.
Steve, who lives in Mickleover, his children – Archie, 14, and Grace, 12 – and their grandfather, Wayne, all attended the march.
Steve said: “The march was just amazing, it was amazing, with thousands of people – I think a lot of people without tickets just came to march.
“Going past Cockpit Island and looking at Pride Parkway, it was like walking down Wembley Way, there were so many fans.
“We hope to survive this season.”
The crowd roared its approval when Luke Plange somehow managed to block what seemed to be a sure goal by Luke Plange’s Krystian Bielik.
Full-time boss Wayne Rooney said: “It’s really incredible for this club to be in the position we are in.
“Because there are no Premier League matches today and our game is live on Sky and I know it’s live in other countries, it’s almost a reminder that this club is a massive club, has a massive fan base and has a future. .
“We are doing everything we can to make sure that this is the case.
“It simply came to our notice then. I know the administrators are working hard for this.
“I think the people above me – whether it’s Middlesbrough, Wycombe, EFL – need to be sensitive to this, because that’s the livelihood of the people at stake, so they have to make sure they make the right decision.”
