Although he was already a celebrity, Kevin Belton became even more popular after his significant weight loss.

Kevin previously stated that the inspiration for his weight loss was the fact that he discovered that he was prediabetic and had high blood pressure.

Kevin added that this forced him and his wife to take drastic measures to protect their health.

Many have speculated about his methods, suggesting that gastric bypass surgery was the reason for this drastic weight loss.

Amidst these rumors, Kevin turned to social media to share his weight loss secrets.

What’s Kevin Belton’s weight loss secret?

On September 1, 2019, in response to fan speculation, Kevin shared via Twitter account (@ChefKevinBelton) –

“It took me two years, but I lost 130 pounds. I exercise every day with my wife and my puppy, Cookie Monster.

I eat low in carbs (not without carbs because it’s not for me) and much smaller portions. It took a long time and it was hard, but it was worth it. “

Exercise, a low-carb diet and smaller portions were all he needed to lose 130 lbs.

Kevin Belton’s methods were so successful that the chef posted photos of his clothes on Facebook because of his weight loss.

So what can you learn from Kevin Belton’s experience?

Lessons from Kevin Belton’s weight loss journey

We’ve highlighted five key nuggets we need to take from Kevin Belton’s weight loss journey to help you on your weight loss journey.

1. Exercise

Kevin Belton said that he moved every day with his wife, which undoubtedly contributed to his success.

Increased exercise increases the number of calories your body burns for energy.

A calorie deficit is created when you burn calories through regular exercise, while reducing the number of calories you consume.

Just 30 minutes of exercise a day is enough to lose a few pounds.

In the late 1970s, Kevin Belton was a football player at Louisiana State University before moving to Xavier.

He also tried professional football, but injuries sustained during training with the San Diego Chargers stopped his sports career before he could take off.

From his history, we can say that exercise was not new to Kevin.

If you don’t know where to start, you can start exercising with these simple home workout routines.

2. Low carb diet

Kevin Belton said he switched to a low-carb diet.

As you may have guessed, high carb foods are foods that you should avoid if you are trying to lose weight.

Reducing carbs tends to suppress your hunger and result in weight loss without effort.

A low-carb diet allows some people to eat until they are satisfied, while still losing weight.

The amount of carbohydrates a person should consume each day to lose weight depends on their age, gender, body type and degree of exercise.

Here are nine foods that support your weight loss journey

3. Smaller portion

In addition to switching to a low-carb diet, Kevin Belton also reduced the amount of food he ate.

He did not starve to death; he simply ate smaller portions. This distinction is important because sometimes people go hungry to lose weight, which leads to unhealthy weight loss.

It is also worth noting that it is not a smart weight loss technique to exercise while neglecting your diet or portions of food.

You need to either burn more calories than you eat, or burn fewer calories than your body needs each day to lose weight.

4. Discipline

This lesson is present in every successful weight loss journey.

No matter how good your plans look on paper, the only way you will see a real change is to stick to the plans you have made and not give up when it becomes difficult, because it will become difficult.

Suppose you exercise every day for a week and stop or start a low-carb diet and return to high-calorie foods a week later. These inconsistencies will not give you the desired results.

Kevin Belton chose his weight loss method, started his weight loss journey and was consistent in its implementation.

Consistency and discipline are essential in any weight loss journey.

5. Adequate weight loss strategy

Kevin Belton pointed out that he switched to a low-carb diet and NOT a low-carb diet because it just didn’t suit him.

This is a great lesson, because people are very different, and different methods have different effects on us.

It is also worth mentioning that perhaps the reason Kevin Belton was successful was that he chose a weight loss technique that he could manage and be consistent with.

Navy SEAL training would undoubtedly help anyone lose weight, but isn’t it just a sustainable technique or right for everyone?

Try to tailor your weight loss journey to your specific needs, tastes, and abilities.

The final note

Kevin Belton demonstrates that anyone can achieve their dream weight with strategy, hard work, dedication and discipline.
